Well, the past week and a half of running again has been going well! I probably came out of the gate a little fast, as I’m feeling some laziness in my legs these days, but happy to be running again. Now the heat! It is DAMN hot here in California this week. Even staying inside for the treadmill is hot. Like others have noticed, you sometimes forget how nice you have it until something changes - for me it’s the heat… It’s usually so perfect heat/humidity wise here that I forget what it’s like to SWEAT LIKE A PIG… Man, all you Florida runners… you have my respect now for sure… if you train in the weather we are having now you are hard-core!
Been running without any devices the last few runs (on a treadmill for mileage recording) and it is LIBERATING, though I noticed something funny. I created XML files for Nike+ (since it’s kind of my all-encompassing repository of run data), and uploaded them to track the runs… My total mileage then had an asterisk after it (*). Man I felt so “Barry Bonds” that I decided to delete the runs from there since they weren’t actually recorded with the device. I suppose they do this to keep people from cheating in challenges, but it made me feel like a cheater even though I HAD done the runs. Haven’t gone back to see if my * disappeared after deleting the runs yet - or to see if I’m branded for life. Aw, like I always say - “if you cheat running, you’re only cheating yourself.” So life goes on.
SENSOR AND BG UPDATE: anyone that actually looks at my BG data will notice a recent absence of data…. I have been without sensors for a while, and am hoping that UPS showed up today with another batch. I feel naked without them.
Naked and still sweating,
Jamie, The Diabetic Runner

TRYING to wash mind of bad mental image! Naked and sweating! Ewwwwwwwwwwwwwwww…
It is hot everywhere. I am trying to escape from my treadmill until I have to run on it. So, I am still going outside in the heat. I am finding runs that have shade on them…
Have I mentioned that I am4/5th of the way to realizing my resolution of a 1,000 miles?
Later!
800 miles!!!!! WOW, you are rockin’
At my current rate, I’m looking more like a 500 mile challenger… congrats to you Charlie!
Naked as in not wearing sensors… but naked sweating running, yeah I second the Ewwwwwwwwwwwww!
To quote the band “Presidents of the United States of America,” “Everybody wants to be naked and famous…”
Halfway there… (you figure out which half)
BTW Charlie… maybe I can use your excess miles towards my goal… kinda like rollover miles…
I forgot to tell you - My Nike+ Sportband failed. It is now zip, zero, nada & gone from this earthly void. I noticed condensation inside of it about a week ago. Then last Sunday after my run, I looked at the face and it was dead.
Nike will replace it, but it did fail on me!
My nike+ band did the same thing. First it recorded milage wrong (3miles became 2) then the condensation. I do hand it to nike though they are replacing mine too.
This is the first time I’ve posted. I’m a type 1 and have been so for 10 yrs. I’m pushing to run a marathon against the better judgment of my endo (I’ll call her from the finish). Just completed my first 12+ run with no bg problems durring or after. It’s taken a while but worth it. So get back runnin Jamie… It’s people like you who inspired me to get back to running after a 10 yr vacation.
Yo, Jamie!
Umm… Err… You do still post occasionally, don’t you?
Greg, Great job! I loved the comment about calling the endo from the finish line! Too Cool!
Jamie, Today, I passed 900 miles for 2008. I think I will actually fulfill my resolution!
Think?
I KNOW you will fulfill your resolution!!!!
And Greg, I can’t wait to hear what you tell her from the finish line!!!!!
