Just an update since it’s been so long….
I have taken the past month off of running to let my ITBand issue clear up, and anticipate running again soon… and OUCH! does this put me behind in my 1000 mile challenge. ( I did however make an exception for the Bay to Breakers - and ran it )
I have been working on my new web service for merging workout data and CGMS - I’ve got some really cool things going, but am not quite finished… use Nike+ and Carelink (Minimed CGMS)? Want to help test, let me know.
I hit a wall, and felt burned out with everything Diabetes related, so while I stopped running, I also took a break from posting here, and at D365. Back to posting here now, and will have to catch up by uploading all the photos I’ve been taking for D365 - all in good time.
Also been a bit sidetracked with writing a personal site for displaying our home videos - rebuilding a YouTube like site for just us.
On top of this, we WENT GREEN and bought a Prius, so you can imagine that I’ve been tinkering with all the new gadgetry in the car too. Last tank we pulled 52 MPG over 500 miles! Woo Hoo!
That about sums it up - thanks for being patient with me, and hopefully you can look forward to regular posts again, as I’m getting over my burnout! Thanks for the poke, Charlie - I needed someone to remind me to get back to blogging!

Hey Jamie– I’m glad you’re back!! I was starting to wonder if you had taken a great vacation to somewhere far away or something. Sounds like you have been super busy, as usual!
Hope you have a great weekend,
Katie I.
Hi, Jamie,
I’m also glad you’re back. The web service sounds cool, but I don’t use NIKE+. I do use a Garmin and SprotTracks, though. And I use CareLink, but not a CGMS at this time.
How flexible are you going to make it?
I am also way behind on my mileage goal. I set a goal of 2K, and I will only have a little over 600 miles at the end of May.
Don’t be surprised if I just say, “Oh, I meant KILOMETERS.” when it gets to December.
Jaime,
It is good to have you back! I use a Garmin and Sporttracks, too (in addition to the Sportband - I never take the iPod anymore even on my long runs) I must look like a partial cyborg with the Garmin on one wrist and a white cotton glove and the Sportband on the other!)
How did the Bay to Breakers go? Are there pictures? Will there be a race report?
And… (Jerry! Great comment! “Oh, I meant KILOMETERS”)
Sometimes breaks can be a GREAT thing.
Out of the blue 2 months ago (I think it was from horsing around with my kids) I tweaked my knee. I don’t know what I did but quit running for a couple months and just did speed walking on a 15% incline treadmill. I am doing the Pikes Peak Marathon in August so I figured what the heck this will jumpstart my training.
2 months later my aerobic fitness is great, but holy cow I went for a 30 minute run and my quads blew up! How silly, just a normal run. But immediately they came back and my body feels so much more fresh from not having had impact on it for awhile.
I have the feeling your knees, ankles, back, and everything else will thank you for the rest.
Glad to have you back! I think we all need a break from parts of our lives from time to time. Great time to get a green car! I think we all wish we had a car that could do that type of mileage!
