Wow, and the gadgets just keep coming… From the minimed site:
Great news! U.S. customers who currently own a MiniMed Paradigm® REAL-Time System (522 or 722 insulin pump models) or a Guardian® REAL-Time Continuous Glucose Monitoring System can expect to automatically receive a OneTouch® UltraLink™ Meter at no charge before June 30, 2008.
So here it is, the new meter option for Paradigm Pump users:

So cool that it’s going to be free to existing users - these guys are really getting it right with their Carelink USB, and now meter. Plus, I already use the OneTouch UltraSmart, so the strips I already have will work with this new meter…. Two great companies here doing something really great for us - now if they could just stop treating the disease and CURE IT!
Still no automatic UPS notification, but can’t wait,
Jamie, The Diabetic Runner
P.S. I got the Nike+ SportBand on Friday and have tried it out…. still saving my opinion - but looks okay so far…

Just found out mine is on it’s way. Just wish I could use the Carelink USB too, but I’m on a Mac.
Can’t wait to hear your thoughts on the sportband. I am usually running with friends so taking the entire nano along for the ride (along with my pump, fanny pack full of testing stuff, etc.) is a bit cumbersome when I’m not even using it to listen to music. I’m sure they can come up with something even smaller given the push to enforce the “no headphones” rule at races.
Wow, how did you find out it was on its way? I’ve checked the MM store several times to see if there was a new order in my Order History, to no avail…
Also, I’m posting my N+ SportBand first impressions, but I’ve got some more testing to do to solidify my final opinion….
I ordered a Nike+Sportsband. It is on the truck for delivery today. I will be actively seeking out your opinion, my friend.
I think the Nike+ system is a good idea, but is yet to be implemented correctly!
I recieved a notice(unsolicited) in the mail on Saturday from MM introducing me to the new meter and letting me know I should have it before June 30th. Lucky me!
You really think the sportsband is better than your 305?
Hey Rob, Better in size, not functionality… I still love what the 305 gives me, though I have to admit, I’m drooling over the new 405… now how can I convince my wife that I NEED it? I’d try to convince Santa, but he’s not coming ’round for quite some time…
Jamie, I have been drooling over the 405 too, it will take me awile to save/convince. I got the new meter UPS today. guess I will be playing with it for a while tonight.
If you are a Kaiser patient, as I am, DON’T HOLD YOUR BREATH! It turns out that Kaiser, and a few other insurance carriers (names now forgotten) have funky contracts with Minimed, and thus their patents WILL NOT be receiving this meter free… BUMMER!
BUT, given that the RF thing that sends your BG to the meter when you test ends up doing a CGMS calibration every time you test, I wouldn’t use this feature anyway… to not cal. CGSM, you have to turn off wireless BG communication on the pump before testing if you don’t want it calibrate… and it’s easier to just enter the BG reading on the occasions you actually DO want to tcalibrate… so until a new pump remedies this situation, I won’t be too upset that I don’t have it.
