Kerri at SixUntilMe.com started something cool, the Raise Your Voice, Type I Diabetes Awareness Day. Be sure to stop by her blog and see what others are doing to raise their voices.
Over here, I am raising my voice, so listen up (and cover your kids’ ears, cause it’s about to get a little crazy in here):
I AM DIABETIC
They said I can’t eat sugar: 6 Krispy Kremes in 60 seconds, and still kicking
They said I can’t scuba dive: 100+ dives and not dead
They said I can’t run a marathon: Completed, and gearing up for a 70.3 triathlon
They said I can’t have a baby: errr, ummmm
They said I’ll go blind: I can see clearly that they were wrong
They said I’ll be impotent: Bob Dole can keep his pills
They said I’ll die of complications: BULLSHIT
They said a lot of things, and you know what, They were wrong!
I AM DIABETIC, AND BETTER FOR IT!
Irreverent rant over, but that was kind of fun,
Jamie, The Diabetic Runner

YEAH! Loved it.
You ROCK, Jamie!
I’m proud of your positive attitude, son!
Lemme guess, you guys are all impressed that I once ate 6 Krispy Kremes in a minute aren’t you?
Heck Yeah! Way to go! Keep on!
Awesome!
(6? Really?)
YOU ROCK.
We gotta chat about scuba diving!

YOU TELL ‘EM, JAMIE!
6 Krispy Kremes? It can be done? Wow!
Awesome (both the rant and the Krispy Kreme claim to fame). Thanks for raising your voice!!!
Preach on brother!
“They said I can’t have a baby: errr, ummmm”
HA HA HA! Hey, its not stopping that dude out in Oregon.
Wait until I tell my wife that eating 4 donuts in one night of late work is NOTHING!
Thank you for your inspiration. Its from people like you that I know my little 6 year old daughter will be able to grow up and do anything and everything she wants (as long as she gets my permission first).
