First of all, I set a diabetic PR today, but not the kind you really want. An all time low BG: 34. It wasn’t the worst feeling or scariest reaction I’ve ever had, but I could certainly feel that I was crazily low. Still, I had the presence of mind to snap a photo of my meter as proof. (And shouldn’t the line be changed from “Do you need a snack?” to “You still alive?”)
In other news, Santa (the diabetic runner one) came early. I scored some anticipated diabetic and runner loot. Yesterday he came dressed in Brown with a box of infusion sets and reservoirs - and not a moment too soon, as I’m down to my last unopened infusion set. Then today I scored twice: first I opened a package from Nike that had my N+ half marathon finisher tech-tee, and Tiffany keyring! Cool!
AND FINALLY, in a show that Santa thinks I’m more nice than naughty, or just nice and naughty, he brought a replacement data cable!!!! YEAH, and as you can see, the data has already been brought back up to date! Whew, I can stop stressing now (except for that lump of coal he dropped - the 187 average on the 3rd, Guess I am naughty).

Yeah Santa! To answer your question, I was up around 460 when I got home. My second professor actually let me out of class because I looked like crap. :-\
Wow, 34 is a low. My all time registered low was 32. That was sketchy. Glad that things are back up again.

I totally have you beat on the PR - 28! Was awful, it started when I was in a freaking drug store of all places but I was too dumb to buy glucose tabs while there - the lows make us dumb as well.

Whoa! It’s crazy how you can still function a little when you’re that low, isn’t it? Sometimes I only start to feel the symptoms (or pay attention to them) when I see the number on the screen! Ugh. I hate scary lows like that. I don’t even want to say what my PR is.
What’s up with the CGM? Did it not send you an alarm to let you know you were dropping? (Does the missing data cable mean that you can’t use it or something?)

Katie brings up a good point, did your CGM pick this up? It’ll be interesting to see your trend leading into your PR once you upload your CGM data from 12/6. It looks like your three day trend was heading towards your PR also.

Follow-ups to your comments:
1). It’s kind of scary how low we’ve all gotten! Makes me wonder - have any of you ever become unconscious? I remember hearing that at 30 you are likely to pass out - but I haven’t met anyone that actually has… send me your stories - I WANT TO KNOW.
2). The CGMS did alarm me to the fact that I was low, but it was about the same time or just slightly after the time that I was feeling it, and decided to test. I was falling rather fast, as it was a low induced by not eating enough carbs with a meal, so the insulin caused me to bottom out rather quickly. I’m sure you all know that the CGMS measure interstitial fluid rather than blood, so there is a 15 - 20 minute lag time in the numbers. This is quite significant if falling quickly. My meter was showing around 60 when I measured the 34, and it wasn’t until I was on my way up to a normal number that it actually registered its low of 48. Had I been sleeping, the monitor would have woken me in time, but just barely.
3). This one I love…. Got someone’s attention with the whole “W” bit. Which is the point exactly! Had I compared my low with the recent rollerskating limbo world record, nobody would have paid attention.
I can assure you that I am not very political, and certainly not politically outspoken… and have never blogged anything in the past that touches on the topic. In fact:
A) This post just used this as an attention grabbing headline - I neither endorse nor disuade people from voting Republican.
B) The post never pushes any information in the post itself to bolster any claims made in the subject.
C) The closing line was a clever metaphor, where “W” is “low BG,” and that certainly has to go - it just seemed clever to use Santa’s “ho ho ho,” and the old protester line, “has got to go” to sum up Christmas and the need for 34 to get the hell out.
D) Besides, you’re right; it is my blog, and if I had wanted to rail on “W” for witholding federal funding for the stem cell research that will cure diabetes, I certainly could have.
ENOUGH - not more politics, I promise: on with the running and diabetes-ing - “W” could outrun me with his sub 8-minute miles anyway!
